Five Palms Elementary School Counselor

Welcome, Five Palms Eagles! My name is Ms. Rachel Luera Mejia, and I am honored and excited to begin my first year at Five Palms Elementary.  I bring 30 years of experience in education, including 5 years with South San ISD, and have had the privilege of working with students at both the middle and high school levels. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to creating positive, inclusive, and supportive environments where ALL students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.

As your school counselor, I am passionate about building meaningful, professional relationships with studentsand families. I want every student to feel known, valued, and comfortable seeking support when they need it. Iam dedicated to helping students recognize their strengths, overcome challenges, believe in themselves, and develop the confidence, skills, and resilience they need to thrive.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Sociology from Texas A&M International University and my Master of Science degree in Counseling and Guidance from Texas A&M University–Kingsville. My education and experience have strengthened my belief that every child is capable of growth and success when we hold high expectations while providing the encouragement, guidance, patience, and support needed to reach those expectations.

I believe that a strong partnership between school and home is essential to student success. I warmly welcome open communication with parents and guardians and look forward to working together to address concerns,
support individual needs, and connect families with appropriate resources to help each child feel confident and cared for at school.
